Haven't heard the whole thing yet, but you know it rocks. Definitely a new sound with Danger Mouse on the boards. Maybe the best guitarist and drummer around.
I'm liking this REM record. Its not as good as all the press makes it out to be, but this is the record they had to make. Kinda of an updated New Adventures in Hi FI with a little more focus on the old school REM aesthetic. " Until the day is Done" is classic REM a la 86'. I dig it. Overall, it still suffers from some cheesy lyrics and Stipes voice being way out front. I'm giving it a 6.5/10
No doubt. This is going down as one of their best. A great snowboarding record. Enough adrenaline for bombing downhills, and all the beauty of a surreal snowfall on the lift.
I'm off snowboarding for a couple weeks and most of this list is the stuff I'm digging on the mountain. This is Pavement's often overlooked classic. Awesome grooves for shredding.
My man, James "Growler" Craggy turned me on to Ian Brown's album "The Greatest". Some stellar brit pop grooves on this one. Great for shredding some powder UK massive style.
No - it isn't the official video. This director and his associated blog (lablogtheque) does this often. It was a real coup for them to get REM to agree. If you go to the blog - you'll see some spectacular footage of alot of the bands we discuss on here. The idea is to get the bands to play in different environments. Arcade Fire's is great. Vampire Weekend is OK. The Shins, National, Yeasayer and others are there as well.
I just saw this video. It was shot at a small train trestle bridge about 4 blocks where fraser and I used to live. Also, Fraser used to tell a story about almost getting hit by stipe in an old beat up volvo. He's still driving the same fucking car! Cool.
Until the Day is Done is one of the few tracks I can turn to. Man Sized Wreath is a really good song but the lyrics blow. I think that's true of most of the album.
This is a SAMPLE whats on the iPod as I snowboard, I'm not wanting to break a lot of new ground as I bust switch to 180 airs. And yes the DPs are sick. They fit the groove.
