A once in a lifetime band, so glad I was alive, found them early, saw them all over and met them several times. Great human beings, amazing musicians and just mind-blowing shows. No, I do not do drugs. I know alot discount them, but they never settled. They were among the first to wrest control away from the record companies, use the internet, put live shows out to "beat the boots". Innovators.
I need to get back to my all-time list, but do not have time now. Phish and Fishbone are two of my favorites of all-time so you picked well. I know we share a love for The Pixies and Zappa, but you reminded me of the Residents, Butthole Surfers (which was one of the best concerts I have ever seen) and Mingus. I love jazz, but have not explored Mingus enough.
Definitely a product of the 80s. You must have changed your original list looking over some of the earlier comments. I hadn't thought of my favorite phish album (lawn boy from '89) or fishbone (fishbone from '85) albums in a long time. Worth tracking those down again - thanks for the unintended prod.
hey vfk... we will have a top 10 of the 80s list eventually...
but this is your list so do whatever you want.
I have that More Soundtrack too. I think people forget that Pink Floyd made great music before Dark Side of the Moon. I used to love the Wall but now i realize it's a bloated self indulgent mess with a few great songs.
Yes! Meddle is so vastly underrated in the pink floyd discography it isn't even funny. Go back a little bit and listen to Obscured By Clouds. That is prob my 3rd favorite pf album.
