sha_ney_ney's Favorite 10 Albums of All Time
1.
Ryan Adams
The only track I wish he would have left off this album is AMY.
Other than that, talented breezes indeed!

2.
Whiskeytown
Everyone should have this album. It's beautiful, heartbreaking, moody, every track is perfect. I'm a huge fan of Ryan's raw, honest, heartfelt songwriting but I think it really peaked in the early days of Whiskeytown. Inn Town, Everything I Do, 16 Days, Losering...it's not background music -- you can't ignore this album, as each track pulls you in and forces you to pay attention.

3.
The Beatles
honestly, i love all things Beatles so it's ridiculous to just choose one album to represent my appreciation for this band. Just consider this particular album image as a visual representation for a band I grew up with and was basically the soundtrack to my childhood, so they are in my bones...along with America, Fleetwood Mac, etc (hippie parents)
4.
Son Volt
Son Volt, this album in particular, is best described in Vin's list. If you are at all into alt-country, you should have this album. It's totally timeless & makes one nostalgic for a time or place that maybe you've never even been, but it feels familiar and like home. Farrar's weathered but soothing voice sounds like it's been on a long journey & he takes you along with him in this album.
Overall Rank: 25
5.
Sun Kil Moon
I was just recently introduced to Sun Kil Moon & what a gift. I have no idea how I lived without this in my life. Kozelek's beautiful, melodic voice & emotion drenched tracks can totally transport you to a warm, cozy peaceful place, or it can leave you yearning & heartache, depending on the person/state of mind. This album tucks me in on most nights & a traveling companion on road trips.

6.
Stevie Wonder
Um, need I say anything about this God of soul and funktified greatness? I mean, if you're not familiar, I'm sorry for you. Like the Beatles, this particular album choice is just a mere sample of all his amazing work.

7.
My Morning Jacket
I just started listening to MMJ after only being vaguely familiar with them for a couple of years & they immediately became one of my favorites. I'm totally addicted to their soulful, haunting & often dissonant sound that I think is very original. There's something very real & sincere about their sound. I can't believe they didn't catch my attention earlier, but sometimes we're just not ready.

8.
Neko Case
Timeless...classic...awesome. Neko is the female version of Ryan Adams for me. I love everything she does. She's a throw back to Patsy Cline, Etta, Loretta and a little Aretha, and she's very dark and melancholic. Her sound is totally haunting and sexy with an old, classic country feel. Blacklisted is her best album in my opinion.
Overall Rank: 466

9.
The Cure
It was a toss up for me between Disintegration and Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. I never get sick of listening to either album - Pictures of You and Just Like Heaven are my favs.
Overall Rank: 38
10.
Michael Jackson
I know a lot of people think Thriller was his best, but I think Off The Wall was his last great work. I'll always love this album, but it shares the no. 10 spot with a few others from other artists that I might switch out at some point.
Overall Rank: 111

well, i have our friend clif to thank for the sun kil moon gift. he changed my life with that one - forever indebted.
ryan has been with me for years, same with son volt. vin introduced me to ryan moons and moons ago, so it's only fair that i repay him by getting people to sign up for this site of his. (although only 3 out of 16 people have actually done it! COME ON!)
