You've got a point about albums that take longer to root. However, I have never been able to get into amnesiac save a few songs.
I think in the long run, my RH list will be OK Computer followed by Kid A. If Kid A had "True Love Waits" on it... even as a bonus track, it'd beat In Rainbows hands down. Right now they are neck and neck.
Yeah that's exactly it for me too, mothballs. I STILL, despite hundreds of listens find new things to be blown away by in Kid A. My experience with In Rainbows, though still a great album, is essentially the same as the first time I heard it, just not as fresh.
I'm listening to both In Rainbows and Kid A now and for the moment I have to agree with Moe. Kid A just hits a unique spot. Can't quite describe it. That said, almost invariably the albums that take the longest to take root with me are the ones that in the end I like better and longer. We'll see about Rainbows.
Yeah, somehow I skipped right from OK computer to Amnesiac and never gave Kid A much of a thought. I listened to the NPR podcast of the Santa Barbara Bowl show and was impressed by a few songs I hadn't heard before so I looked 'em up and they were almost all from Kid A. This stuff is amazing. I can't get enough.
Holy Schnikeys mothball. If you like Radiohead and are now getting into Kid A and it appeals to you off the bat - watch out. It may become your all-time favorite. "How to Disappear Completely" is the greatest Radiohead song ever.
