Oh yeah, before they became ridiculously teen oriented, the first album from Fountains of Wayne was a catchy as hell pop album and I ended up getting like 3 or 4 of their shitty albums since.
It's a good album, betty, don't get me wrong. But i highly doubt anyone will be pulling out VW by this time next year.
vin, sometimes you don't need more depth. i'm not saying VW will change the face of music, but there is something to writing a catchy pop album. it's catchy as hell, there are some great arrangements and is just an all around fun album.
Totally agree on this one. I was very high on VW (check out the first blog post on blog.favorite10.com) but after a week, I was over it. It was just pop candy. Sometimes albums bring you back in and you discover more depth to them. There is no more depth to Vampire Weekend. You get everything on the first listen.
Just curious - how long have you been listening to Vampire Weekend? I was all into them for about 5 days, where I had them on constant rotation and then I was just, I don't know, over it. It was like I'd discovered all I could from the album and that was that. It's fun, don't get me wrong, but I never find myself saying "Hmm. Maybe some Vampire Weekend." I dunno. Is it just me? Am I missing something?
