douglas's Favorite 10 Albums of All Time
1.
Pavement
sometimes shorter is sweeter. this extended player gets flipped over and over and over and ever over when i'm wanting my favorite songs.
Overall Rank: 99

2.
The Germs
Germs Incognito (GI) is the name of their one and only long player. Joan Jett produced. Darby's lyrics are compressed which is why they're impossible to get (not to mention apparently he always sang off-mike---and he's the singer!)....

3.
The Who
my favorite pict of pete townsend is that one w/ his bloody palm holding his blood smeared cheek. again, this is the greatst record ever. all of 'em in my list are, so i'll try to stop saying that. pete's guitar sounds so crunchy! and how about how the original vinyl came w/ 11 inserts. get me lost in THIS record if you ever want to lose me.
Overall Rank: 177

4.
My Bloody Valentine
what can i say? i'm supposed to convice you to listen to these records. that's the point of each blurb, right? i know i suck and do most everything but. kevin shields fascinates me. i want to see them live and feel the noise. lovely lonely foreignland layered analog muzak.
Overall Rank: 19
5.
Lyres
best band from boston ever! better than Boston and Aerosmilth combined. garage trash can full of beer bottles fuzz from mono-man playing a lyre-shaped guitar. a saturday night record if there ever was one.
Overall Rank: 261

6.
Lou Reed
mick ronson's guitar sounds so good. mick ronson at the time is bowie's guitarist. mick went on to contribute to ian hunter's best records. lou's the best. he deserves to be no. one here, but he's not. but lou's tough.
Overall Rank: 311

7.
The Cult
best AC/DC record when you don't feel like australia.
Overall Rank: 261

8.
The Velvet Underground
why do i keep using the word best? from the movie High Fidelity, cusack's character chooses this on his list of top five best albums whose title is also the name of the first song.
Overall Rank: 402
This album only appears on this list
9.
Iggy Pop
the movie Trainspotting did everything to revive this record. david bowie's involved again and even plays piano for the tour. no mick ronson, obviously. if mick were on this it'd certainly always and forever be my no. one. "fall in love w/ me," listen to this song. i think it's the last track.
Overall Rank: 451

10.
Jane's Addiction
perry farrell's favorite artists were iggy and lou. i loved perry first, and this album was recorded live as a showcase for the labels when they were make or break. you can tell. the transition into "sympathy" is THE best.
Overall Rank: 451

Hey thanks. I'll try to improve it. Pavement's Watery Domestic EP rules the roost! And the Germs (GI) doesn't come up as an option probably b/c it's not on CD. I noticed somebody else disagrees w/ greatest hits, and in a way I see his point.

This is a great list. I'm anxious to listen to the stuff on this list that I haven't heard before: pavement and the germs.

Thanks for sharing.
