totally forgot to add bjork. now i do. thanks James!!

and yes - i know what you mean - i miss the old skool tori too. but, regardless, she is genius. a goddess. i fucking love her. and yeah - there's nothing like seeing her perform 'Cornflake Girl' live, just her and her piano. so perfect.

Admittedly, I prefer the old Tori over the new Tori. When I saw her in concert this year, I found myself missing the Little-Earthquakes-Under-The-Pink-Pele Tori.

But she was entertaining... although i don't generally want to be entertained by in-your-face spectacles and easily turned off by all the bells and whistles. I prefer to be transported, inspired and hit with feeling by a stipped down performance, which I think is better suited for her. Which her live album, To Venus and Back does that for me. It's a concert I wish I had been to.

I remember when i couldn't stand Tori Amos. Perhaps it was because of mike and his refusal to listen to anything else. Now i love her. Im suprised you don't have any Bjork listed.

dude - Vin - so on crack. you crazy. nice joke though. snap.

crack is whack.

see what i mean? proof that vin is indeed on crack. but i'm so fond of his unabashed snobbery, i generally let it slide.

Yeah, Hope Sandoval's voice is great but that album was terrible. TERRIBLE. I tried to trade it in at the local CD shop and they told me to bring in something worth more - like an AOL sign up disc.

dude, seriously, how can anyone say that about mazzy star? FIRST, she's got that perfectly dream-like voice, and her lyrics are f*cking awesome....is he on crack?

and yes, i too am a francophile. it suits me well. and Tori? don't even get me started.

word.

I saw Tori when she was here earlier this year, too. Love her.
And I'm totally excited to see Edith in your list, being a francophile, myself and totally intrigued with her story and that particular era as well.
My friend Vin might have something to say about your Mazzy Star selection, but don't listen to him. I had Tonight That I Might See on one of my lists a while ago and he dissed the songwriting. Pfft!
