This is probably the best cd made, ever. His latest true cd was a concept album based on my birth state. It is jaw-droppingly good and there is nothing else to say.
I remember ordering this in the mail and nearly peeing myself until it arrived. I listened to the entire cd and loved every second of it. Early Coldplay, when they were still depressed, it truly amazing music. It is low key, beautiful, and interesting. I really think Parachutes is some of their best stuff, before they had the burden of heavy fame.
The other early Coldplay cd is also incredible. Not all of the tracks are outstanding, but I listened to this cd for all four years of highschool. Beautiful vocals, lyrics, and music come together for something that is both simple and meaningful.
Why is this cd so cool? Andrew Bird is my hero. His lyrics are way beyond average, he plays a violin, and he manages time and again to create mind-blowingly good music. Every track on this cd has provided years of enjoyment, I know all the words by heart.
Really just an incredible piece of work from an incredible man. The lyrical depth of ITAOTS coupled with the bizarre (but good!) music is a force to be reckoned with. I still haven't been able to find anything quite like it.
One of the best collections of songs out there, Want One is musically, lyrically, and vocally outstanding. Want One was my coming out album, it is an essential bunch of songs for all the sad, cynical gays in the world - as well as anybody else who likes good music.
Want Two is everything Want One was, except more intimate, more experimental, and more interesting. The second track on this cd is my favorite song of all time, and otherwise there is nothing short of genius here. I hope he gets back to this style one day.
Damien Rice is the idol of sad and angry people worldwide. O is something of a masterpiece, because all of its elements seem so simple yet the polish and originality of each song is astounding. It is a breathtaking, sexually charged, angry, and beautiful as hell cd.
The Scissor Sisters' second cd (say that three times fast) is incredible. It is more mature, more original, more clever and more fun than any similar band in contemporary music has offered. Every song is good, and multilayered so it doesn't get old quickly. This cd is important to me because it was the soundtrack to an important period in my life, and really it is just plain good.
Illinois is truly a masterpiece and I considered it for my all-time top 10. It is so far-reaching and creative. Sufjan was terrific in concert as well. Since there has been such a drought with his music - I'm getting more & more depressed by the day that there won't be a "Pennsylvania" album! ;)
