No - saw that you scored tickets. With the wife & kids - I can only manage so many concerts and since Wilco is 2 days before Radiohead - have to pick my battles (just like the DCFC vs. REM issue)
I checked out Grizzly Bear. They kinda remind me of old school Pink Floyd sometimes. Which is kinda ironic as I always think of Radiohead as the new Floyd.
you're gonna have a hell of a time finding 3 tickets in the seated section unless you want to pay through the nose. I saw an auction end on ebay sat morning for $250. for mediocre 200 level seats too. good luck. by the way, i see you've moved bon iver up. can we sub him out for Grizzly Bear as the opening act?
Vin - thanks so much. I committed to getting tix with two friends who currently have lawn seats and we'll try to upgrade but since I need 3 tix now - I'll have to pass. Thanks again for thinking of me. I really appreciate it.
You're totally right about Fiona Apple. Extraordinary Machine was a bit of a let down and it's still better than 95% of the albums released by others in the past few years. I don't understand why Fiona isn't more successful. A phenomenal voice, writes her own music, great lyrics. And she's hot! What the hell is the problem here folks?
I see this Sara Bareilles chick EVERYWHERE and if you put her hit song against something like Fiona's "Red Red Red", it's laughable.
Like the white board. Cool feature I didn't notice before.
I agree for the most part. It certainly is raw in terms of songwriting and I don't think you'll find many at the level of Fiona Apple's songwriting (then again - maybe that's a good thing since Fiona can't seem to get out of her way these days while a young artist like Adele may be able to grow). Glad you are enjoying it though. SOme of the songs have very powerful vocals. While it isn't my favorite of the moment - I know you enjoy some good female songstresses. (sp?)
yo steve. I checked out Adele. Thanks. Pretty good. Certainly better than Lily Allen. Reminds me a little of the Sia album. just a little.
I think the problem with most young female singer songwriters is that they tend to have really bad lyrics and fall back on cliches. I haven't heard anything to make me cringe yet through a few listens. The other problem is that they'll never measure up to Fiona Apple's first album at 19 which was spectacular.
